I do daily admin tasks such as invoicing, taking phone calls, monitoring our website for orders, arranging courier labels, arranging export shipments, filling our credit/returns forms, creating stock cards. I also have monthly tasks such as following the document retention policy and shredding outdated forms, and running the customer satisfaction report in order to gauge how many errors we are making and what we can do to improve.
One of the main skills I have developed is communication and confidence. I used to be very nervous about speaking to people on the phone, but over time and with the experience I have gained, I am able to do this confidently. I have also developed my skills in programmes such as Excel, and I can do some sums to help me with my report running. I have some gained knowledge on parts like spherical and rod end bearings, fasteners and lubricants.
I enjoy my course. The work is challenges me but not to the point where I am struggling. I enjoy the monthly workshops as I feel more involved with them rather than just having a tutor talk at me the whole time. My course is relative to the work that I do which makes it more enjoyable.
I think it is very well structured. I have monthly visits from my skills coach to ensure I am progressing towards my end point assessment, and I also have monthly workshops on a different topic each month which I find helpful, because you get longer to focus on the one topic rather than being bombarded with work.
I receive a lot of support from my employer/colleagues. My manager sits in on meetings with my skills coach, I know I can ask my colleagues for help if I am ever struggling.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. If I am ever stuck with work, I know I can email and get a response quickly with the relevant information to help me. I get monthly visits/meetings to check up on my progress and go through anything I am unsure of.
My qualification helps me to perform better because it teaches me things like how to better manage my time, how to manage my performance, communication etc. Once I have the knowledge on these units, I can apply this to my work.
