  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day-to-day basis, my role consists of solving requests for internal colleagues and external clients. These requests consist of relaying historical information regarding auctions to the colleague or client, deciphering all details discovered.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My time as an apprentice at Christie's has encouraged me to expand my communication skills, such as interacting confidently with colleagues and clients, whether this be via email, telephone or in-person. I have strengthened my skills in deciphering old handwriting, understanding new terminology, working as a team alongside my colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my programme as this is an amazing opportunity to discover your future route as an individual. I have been given the opportunity to experience the working world as a colleague, whilst also learning how to balance my work responsibilities and coursework assigned by my training provider. I have an insight into becoming a member of the team in the department, whilst successfully gaining my qualification and building new connections with other apprentices.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Whilst completing my day-to-day work, I dedicate a set amount of time to complete coursework, attend workshops set by my provider. Also, double-checking my knowledge learned, we have set exams to complete.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Christie's is very supportive when beginning as an apprentice, as you are apart of a cohort with lots of other apprentices in the same position as you. Support and time is given when needed, alongside various opportunities!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From my training provider, I have monthly 1-2-1 sessions with my coach and every three months a catch-up with myself, my coach and my manager. I felt well supported whilst on my programme. However, as my course did not directly correspond with my day-to-day work, we discussed different routes for a successful outcome.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The skills learned from my programme, I am able to adapt and strengthen these skills to my day-to-day role and upcoming projects.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a variety of opportunities at Christie's, such as, groups which host events around specific topics, alongside, sporting events and networking opportunities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Christie's is unique company, which is constantly changing. Everyday presents a new opportunity, such as attending a viewing of artwork which may never been seen in the public eye again, being apart of a team, finding your niche! Colleagues at Christie's are friendly, inclusive and welcoming.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Christie's?
  • Be yourself, be open-minded and eager to learn! Smile and show a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
