  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working in cyber security.

    7/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Agile, Scrum, PM, Enterprise Design Thinking, Financial management and many more.

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is self-paced and I find the online aspect dull and hard to engage with. The in-person training is the highlight of the course but this is pretty infrequent.

    5/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured. You have 2 managers one for your day-to-day role and the other for your career, apprenticeship and career progression. The learning is set up to be completed by quarter and it's very intuitive.

    8/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I know apprentices often feel different about this depending on their manager. I feel very supported as mine is very diligent and approachable.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • With the company being our training provider, our career managers support us throughout the programme. Support is available whenever we need it.

    8/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualifications are very rounded and non-focused. As a result, it can feel that you lack role-specific skills without additional training. That's consulting though.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are some. When you consider lots of us did an apprenticeship instead of university, I believe there should be more focus on providing extra-curricular activities. This would also encourage apprentices into the office.

    4/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Good work-life balance. Good career pathways. Well-rounded training. Plenty of opportunities to up-skill.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
  • Do extra-curricular activities at school/college. Grades aren't always important. A dull presentation/interview isn't memorable and won't get you through assessment days.
