Degree Apprenticeship

So far at CMS I have been working with the Financial Services Disputes team, where we handle matters to do with disputes over fraud, bribery, insolvency and cryptocurrency for different types of clients such as banks, small and large businesses and private individuals.

My role involves completing legal and commercial research, drafting letters, pieces of legal advice and witness statements, completing high level analysis of certain key documents, reviewing documents, compiling and creating court documents, sitting in on calls with clients and other lawyers and taking notes and sometimes being able to attend court hearings, both virtually and in person. I am also looking forward to joining the Pensions team soon – a department that is recognised for being one of the best pensions teams in the UK and Europe!

My favourite part about being an apprentice is being able to learn on the job and being surrounded by professionals who are experienced and invested in your development. CMS has been a great firm to work at with its numerous diversity and inclusion initiatives and a hybrid working model that allows for flexibility. The experience I will gain over the 6 years of my apprenticeship at a firm with considerable resources will be invaluable, not to mention the financial benefit of not paying for my studies and earning a salary at the same time. I am certainly looking forward to completing the rest of my apprenticeship!
