Engineering Higher Apprenticeship

I recommend the Severn Trent apprentice schemes to anyone that’s motivated and willing to learn. Here, there are endless opportunities for progression to create an amazing career for yourself! If you have a query and want to progress somewhere the answer is usually yes. Also, everyone is exceedingly valued and you have the power to take control of your own career and go where you want to. As long as you are willing to put the work in, the business will always support you to do what you want to do. Applying to Severn Trent was the best decision of my life.

Currently I work 4 days a week in the office and one day at college. Throughout my apprenticeship I am gaining valuable experience in a well-respected company alongside nationally recognised qualifications. In my day-to-day role I have many key responsibilities in which I must undertake. This initially involves undertaking an option evaluation/assessment for projects within the required time-scales and within agreed budgets. I also produce assessments on suitable options and develop a single preferred and costed technical solution while ensuring they are safe to build, operate and maintain. Communications is key for the role as we quantify and residual risks associated with primary solutions alongside communicating with key stakeholders such as the works operators and process designers during the development of solutions. A desire to learn will go a long way.

Taking the opportunity to present to our CEO Liv Garfield was an awesome experience. To be an apprentices and have this opportunity provided immense satisfaction as the work was greatly appreciated and allowed us to show the senior leadership what the upcoming new talent of the company are capable of.
