About NatWest

Who we are and what we do?

NatWest Group is a relationship bank for a digital world. We champion potential; breaking down barriers and building financial confidence so the 19 million people, families, and businesses we serve throughout the UK can thrive.

You may recognise some of our many brands; NatWest Group is the umbrella we all sit under, but this also includes The Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest, Coutts, Ulster Bank, Lombard and many more

At NatWest Group we offer a variety of apprenticeship programmes across the UK, to help you find the opportunity that’s right for you and empowering you to reach your full potential. Our apprenticeship programmes are aligned to the following job families:

  • Business Administration and Project Management
  • Data and Insights
  • Digital and Technology
  • Relationship Management
  • Specialist Business Support
  • Customer Service

Why should I do an apprenticeship? Is it right for me?

Apprenticeships are a fantastic alternative to further education. You get to learn new skills that you’ll use in real-world situations from day one and you’ll get paid while you do it! It’s a win-win really.

An apprenticeship could be the best option if you’d like something:

  • Practical - You’ll learn on the job, gaining hands-on skills and experience
  • Paid - You’ll earn as you learn and have access to flexible benefits, giving you the freedom to choose the benefits that suit you
  • Supportive - With us, you’ll also have support from the Early Talent team, an apprentice buddy, your line manager, as well as a Learning Coach from your training provider
  • Future focussed – Develop skills that are critical to the world of work in the future and grow your career
  • Transformative – Are you looking to take your career in a different direction? Apprenticeships are also a great way to re-skill if you’re looking for a career change
  • Accredited - You can achieve a qualification, and for some a degree as part of your apprenticeship

What does an apprentice do?

Apprentices bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the bank. You’ll help us think differently, and have a positive impact on the people, families, and communities we serve.

You’ll build relationships, develop your knowledge, and deliver projects and activities relevant to your role.

There are also additional activities you can get involved in as an apprentice to support our purpose. You could join our Employee Led Networks, be an Apprentice Ambassador or represent our apprentices at Apprentice Councils.

What you’ll get out of our apprenticeships

As an apprentice, you’ll be fully trained in your specified area with exposure to a large network of colleagues and external partners who’ll support your career growth.

How you’ll learn:

  • On-the-job training - Where you’ll learn about the job you have been hired for through training and supervision by your line manager and team colleagues
  • Off-the-job training - You’ll spend some time away from the job to complete classroom-based and/or online learning and assignments

You’ll also be awarded a recognised qualification on completion of the apprenticeship programme.
