At CMS, we believe that a career in law should be accessible to all. Since 2012, our Law Scholarship scheme has been instrumental in helping some of the brightest legal minds launch their careers. This programme offers financial assistance, mentoring, guidance through the UCAS application process, and paid work experience, ensuring sustained support throughout your undergraduate studies and beyond.

What You Can Expect:

  • Financial Support: Up to £2,500 per year for the duration of your degree (up to 10 recipients).
  • Mentoring: Receive support with your UCAS application and the LNAT examination, plus informal guidance from a trainee buddy.
  • Work Experience: A bespoke work experience programme in your first year of university, with a payment of £450.
  • Fast-Track Opportunities: Potential fast-tracking to CMS Emerging Talent programmes and assessment centres for Training Contracts.
  • Sustained Support: Continuous guidance, from budgeting workshops to graduation celebrations.
  • UCAS and LNAT Reimbursement: Reimbursement for UCAS and LNAT expenses for finalists attending the assessment day.

Eligibility:

  • Academic Year: Open to Year 12 students in England & Wales, Year 13 in Northern Ireland, and S5 in Scotland.
  • Education: You must attend a state-funded school, sixth form, or further education college, and be the first generation in your family to attend university.
  • Career Ambition: A strong passion for pursuing a legal career.

Our programme begins with targeted pre-joining events and a comprehensive induction helping to embed you into the firm from day one. You will be enrolled onto a law degree in Legal Practice and Skills (LLB) at the University of Law at a location appropriate to your apprenticeship. Following successful completion of your LLB you will be enrolled onto your Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE). We will ensure that you become fully immersed into life at CMS, through gaining valuable, practical experience across many of our practice groups as well as providing you with world-class training and development opportunities.
