Surveyor - Project Management Degree Apprenticeship

Current Team Information 

You will be joining the London Office Project Management Team which is a fast-paced and friendly team of 30 professionals. The team focus on projects within the Central London Commercial sector and are fortunate to have an enviable range of investor, developer and occupier clients; working on tier-one commercial projects in Central London. 

The team is led by Benjamin Cottle and Richard Eyley, who both have 15 years of experience at Savills. Having been with the business and managed the team together for so long, they have built up a unique group of individuals with a genuine ‘team’ outlook. They are both extremely passionate about offering people the very best opportunities and supporting individual’s career progression through the business, with appropriate guidance and training offered by the team, as well as our exceptional in-house learning and development team. Alongside wanting to select the right candidate for the role, it is also their priority to ensure that the role is correct for you as they grow the team and continue to build on its considerable successes.

We are an established and growing team of project managers, specialising in the fit-out and refurbishment of office and mixed-use buildings in Central London, across a full range of sectors. We work with both landlord and tenants on a range of projects between approximately 5,000 to 150,000 sq ft. Our work covers all aspects of project and programme management, including the employer’s agent role, risk management, procurement, programming, contract administration and strategic consultancy.

The role will involve spending time in both Savills’ London offices, and will also require time out of the office at project and client meetings, primarily in Central London with the occasional requirement for travel outside the M25.  

About this role

The successful individual would be supported in developing an in-depth understanding of Project Management including team formation, procurement strategies, contract administration and leading teams. 

In this role you would be required to assist team members with all aspects of their work whilst helping the London Office Project Management team maintain their market leading position. 

Day to day work would include activities such as the following:

  • Attending client and project team meetings
  • Attending site to monitor progress and review quality of install
  • Undertaking contract administration duties
  • Attending client and project team meetings
  • Assisting on pitches and presentations
  • Preparing both meeting agendas and minutes
  • Preparing and updating project programmes
  • Coordinating with the wider Savills business to ensure client’s needs are met
  • Assisting in the close out of key project issues
  • Contributing to PR strategies including social media – e.g. blogs, research and PR 
  • Assisting with preparation of client reports and identifying new business opportunities

The individual would be client and project team facing from day-1 and therefore communication and interpersonal skills are of paramount importance. An outgoing, sociable and presentable individual is required. 

The long term potential is for the individual to become a Project Manager themselves, forming an integral part of a market leading team. 

Working Week 

Five full days in the office, working hours 9:00am to 5:30pm. One of these days each week will be dedicated to university led study whilst in the office.

How you’ll make an impact

Good communication and organisational skills are vital to succeed as an apprentice. You will need the ability to manage a varied workload when working with different members of the team. It is also important to feel confident when using your own initiative, and being passionate about delivering the best service possible for your team and clients.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Word and Excel capabilities
  • Good written, presentation and numerical skills are essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Diligent and detail driven
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team
  • Punctual, reliable, keen and enthusiastic
  • Thirst for knowledge and self-motivated

GCSE English and Maths at Level 4 (Grade C) or above is a mandatory requirement and you may not apply if you are currently studying for or already have a degree. You will also need a minimum of 96 UCAS points. 

You must be eligible to live, work and remain in the UK, within 1 hour’s commute of the office you are applying to.

A driving license is desirable, but not essential. 

Training 

5 year training programme (Level 6 Apprenticeship), which includes a part time undergraduate degree (4 years) and an APC training programme (2 years, enrolled at the beginning of your 3rd year at University) leading to become a Chartered Surveyor with an RICS qualification. 

On the job training is provided to ensure all the required knowledge and experience is obtained throughout the apprenticeship to qualify successfully.
