Tax School and College Leaver Programme

Core Tax

In Tax, you'll assist clients ranging from large organisations to budding entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals in managing tax risk, understanding obligations, and complying with complex legislation. Your work will encompass a variety of tasks, including multinational advisory projects, mergers and acquisitions advice, tax compliance, and researching business issues affecting clients' tax affairs. You’ll engage with clients on critical business matters, such as interpreting developments in case law, understanding the implications of expanding into new territories, or introducing new products. Your role may involve working on purely UK-based activities or participating in global projects, improving internal processes, or contributing to mergers and acquisitions.

Programme

Our School and College Leaver programmes are designed to help you develop your business skills through real client work, while studying towards qualifications that will give you a head start in your career. You’ll earn a competitive salary and receive coaching from our people, who are experts in their field. At the same time, thanks to our study support, you won’t need to worry about paying for course and exam fees, textbooks or revision materials.

What you'll do

Our Core Tax programme will have you rotate across our Direct and Indirect Tax teams during your first two years at PwC. In your third year, you'll join our Core Tax graduate programme.

Direct Tax: In this team, you'll assist clients in managing tax risk and complying with complex legislation. Our clients range from FTSE 100 companies and global organisations to budding entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and family businesses.

Indirect Tax: In this practice, you could be involved in various tasks, from advising on the VAT implications of UK activities to participating in global projects focused on supply chains. You may also consider the impact of case law developments or provide advice on mergers and acquisitions.

What you'll gain

You'll receive extensive practical, on-the-job training while studying for a professional qualification with the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT). This nationally recognised qualification is a core part of your programme.

What you'll need

Minimum Requirements:

- ATT Pathway: 96 UCAS points from up to three full A-Levels (or equivalent)

- CFAB Pathway:112 UCAS points from up to three full A-Levels (or equivalent)

- GCSE Requirements:Grade C or 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent)

Exams must have been taken in the same sitting. Resits are accepted only if modules or papers were retaken in the same academic year. If you have any extenuating circumstances related to your exam marks or the sequencing of your exams, please declare this on your application, and it will be considered during the review process. The UCAS tariff may vary depending on the team and the professional qualification.
