Job Description

Our apprenticeships span a range of different sectors and are based within a variety of different teams working on a wide range of projects, so as you can imagine, each role varies. If you’re invited to an interview, this is when we will discuss in more detail the specifics of the job role you applied for and what it involves.

You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other apprentices so an apprenticeship with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture.

As a Building Services Engineering Degree Apprentice your duties will include:

  • Create detailed plans, diagrams, drawings and other documentation.
  • Use CAD and software programs to create plans and design new systems.
  • Utilise and develop Building Information Modelling (BIM) to coordinate systems.
  • Design equipment for use on-site, as and when required.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings internally and externally with clients.
  • Ensure all systems adhere to health and safety requirements.
  • Be able to work flexibly and manage your workload.
  • Have a good attention to detail, our clients demand high quality outputs.
  • Develop designs for engineering services which make buildings a comfortable place to be.
  • Utilise discipline-specific software to aid design development.

Location

We are currently taking applications for the following areas - Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, and Sheffield.

Candidate Specification

To join us for an apprenticeship you must meet the eligibility requirements of the relevant training provider.

To join us for a Building Services Engineering Degree Apprentice you must meet the eligibility requirements of the relevant training provider. These are:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above including English and Maths.
  • 3 A Levels (or equivalent) at Grade C or above (96 UCAS points).

We are looking for students with the following characteristics:

  • A methodical approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.

From the moment you join us, you’ll receive the training you need. You will be assigned a mentor, who will guide you to meet the objectives of your apprentice agreement. We’ll support you on your journey to completing the apprenticeship and your career aspirations beyond.

You’ll be enrolled onto Accelerate Your Future, a structured three-year soft-skills development programme which develops the strengths that we know apprentices need to be successful at Mott MacDonald. It also gives you the opportunity to network and meet other apprentices and graduates in your cohort. The programme is a mix of residential events, classroom-based learning, virtual webinars, and sustainability and social impact challenges.

In addition to developing your soft skills, we recognise that each person's career goals vary, so when rolling off the programme we provide you with the tools and support to develop your ongoing career the way you wish to. Alongside our vast library of e-learning courses available to you, you can choose which direction you want your career to go in.
