Cyber Security Analyst Higher Apprenticeship

What you’ll do

  • Assist in the day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus tools.
  • Support Security Operations across various Telent platforms and applications with Information Security Policy development and implementations.
  • Develop and build knowledge around information security risk management, operation policy, and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively across internal teams/stakeholders to support security implementation on IT projects.
  • Learn how to identify and respond to security incidents, including data breaches and other cyber threats.
  • Participate in vulnerability scanning and patch management to ensure systems are up-to-date and protected from known threats.
  • Assist in conducting regular security audits, risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with security policies and industry regulations.
  • Monitor and manage support tickets, escalating complex issues.
  • Incident, Service Request & Asset management.
  • Update document security incidents, procedures, and improvements to processes, ensuring that all security practices are well-documented.
  • Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies by conducting research and participating in ongoing training.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to ensure timely and effective resolution of user issues.
  • Monitor and analyse computer system performance and capacity and provide recommendations for improving the computing infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all support requests, solutions, and common troubleshooting procedures.

  • This role would suit someone who is passionate about Technology and IT solutions, and motivated to pursue a career within this technical security and Information Security Risk field.
  • No prior experience is required as full training will be provided.
  • Individuals should have the right attitude, commitment, and desire to learn.
  • You will get a mobile phone and laptop.
  • While supported throughout the programme by Telent, you'll need to take ownership of your tasks and personal development.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail skills are essential.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges is expected.
  • Communication skills are vital—both written and verbal.
  • A basic understanding of IT Applications, Networking concepts, Operating Systems, and Cybersecurity principles will be ideal.

The Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 4 or higher (or equivalent qualification), including Maths, English, and a Science or IT-based subject.
  • A-Level/BTEC within an IT-based qualification is preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Eligible to pass Security Clearance.
  • Must be over the age of 18 by January 2025.

Programme Specifics

  • The apprenticeship is typically 24 months in duration.
  • Starting salary is £18,000, with increases over the course of the programme.
  • Gain a Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist qualification.
  • A chosen college provider will help support you in obtaining your qualification.
  • Predominantly office-based with occasional visits to other Telent sites.
  • Travel to the college/provider may be required on occasion, with Telent supporting travel expenses as per their policy.
  • Upon completing the apprenticeship, a full-time position may be offered where you can continue to pursue your career at Telent.
