Our brand new Assembly Facility at the Rail Village at Goole represents a strong commitment from Siemens Mobility to invest in the East Riding of Yorkshire. You will be part of a large team of electrical and mechanical technicians carrying out the final manufacturing stages on a variety of train and metro systems, the first being the replacement for the London Underground Piccadilly line. You will ensure that safety is a priority as you assemble our state-of-the-art zero emission trains in our purpose-built facility.
This is the first Siemens Mobility rolling stock manufacturing facility in the UK and is expected to undergo a significant period of expansion over the next decade, providing a great deal of growth and career opportunities.
Programme Overview
Whilst on the Apprenticeship you will be following an apprenticeship standard:
ST0316 Rail Engineering Advanced Technician.
The programme structure will be:
- Block Release (virtual)
- Whilst working towards a formal qualification, you will also work as part of a team on real life projects within the workplace.
Your Journey
Embark on your journey with us whilst taking part in our fantastic apprentice development programme. We will create a personalised training plan to help you develop the specific skills and knowledge required for your role. By the end of your programme, you will be equipped with the best knowledge and hands-on experience to kickstart your professional career here at Siemens Mobility.
What You'll Do
- Help to lead digitisation topics in industrial product design and development, including real time low level embedded software, micro controllers, operating systems and processors.
- Support application and mobile platform development.
- Work with Digital electronics & programming and scripting using languages such as C, C++, Java, .NET, HTML etc.
Essential Skills and Attributes
We are seeking innovative and inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following:
- You will have achieved or be on track to achieve at least 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Science and English Language.
- You will have achieved or be on track to achieve GCSE Maths at grade 5 or above.
- You will have achieved or be on track to achieve a Level 3 Engineering Qualification.
- Alternatively, candidates must have achieved or be on track to achieve 3x A-Levels in suitable subjects (such as Maths & Physics).
- Logical thinking, willingness to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work independently, safely and responsibly; you take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change.
- Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions.
