About the role
National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future, operating a number of HVDC interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK. As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we can meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.
The Operational Support team is responsible for enabling the HVDC Interconnector sites to continue to operate effectively, creating a bridge between sites and the main Interconnectors business. The team is the eyes and ears of interconnectors and continuously supports, develops, and improves performance of the Operations Team.
The Risk and Compliance Apprentice role is critical in supporting the Operations management teams and sites ensuring they can:
- Operate the interconnectors effectively.
- Ensure regulatory adherence.
- Minimise potential risks by conducting regular checks and monitoring.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience of working in the energy or construction sector and is looking to develop their skills further as a Risk & Compliance Officer whilst gaining a recognised Risk and Compliance qualification.
This role is an excellent entry point into Risk and Compliance. Whilst on the apprenticeship you will:
- Support and embed risk and compliance processes and controls to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to embedding a culture of compliance within the organisation.
- Support team with risk analysis to identify areas where risk can be mitigated to ensure organisations are fully compliant.
- Perform risk and or compliance checks and reviews as directed by their line manager to determine whether established protocols are being followed and where they can be improved.
- Provide compliance and risk data to stakeholders – IPM team
Location
This is a hybrid position with your place of work being Warwick, however, we are a wide and diverse team so home working is acceptable with office visitation on an as required basis.
About you
- You will need 5 GCSE's at grade 4/C or higher including Maths AND English Language (or equivalent e.g Level 2 functional skills).
