About the role
This role is based within our Strategic Infrastructure Team. Our new Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business unit has been set up to deliver 17 new major projects in the UK, as well as other strategic projects to help us deliver on our net zero ambitions and help the UK Government meet its target of 50GW of renewable energy by 2030.
Our aim is to help the UK switch to clean energy and make sure our electricity network is fit for the future; carrying more clean, secure energy from where it’s generated to where you need it. In this role you would play a crucial role in enabling us to do this.
As an Assistant Project Management Apprentice, you'll:
- Work in the Project Management Office (PMO) alongside colleagues in planning, estimating, risk, and reporting.
- Gain experience in various aspects of estimating, risk, and cost management, including participating in scheme teams and supporting project managers.
- Contribute to maintaining the Cost Book, analyzing tender submissions, and identifying project risks.
- Opportunity to be involved in project planning and program management of live projects, understanding their interactions and operational constraints.
Location
This role is based in the Bury St Edmunds office. This vacancy offers flexible, hybrid working. You will be required to travel to our site locations in this role.
About you
- You will need to have a GCSE in English Language AND in Math at Grade C or above (or equivalent).
- 2 A levels / A2: Grades A* - C Or equivalent (BTEC National Certificate OR Diploma Level 3 at Grade Merit or Distinction).
- Must have or be working towards a full UK drivers license.
You don’t need prior work experience; the determination and will to succeed is far more important as we will teach you everything you need to know. The role will provide you with a variety of skills including transferrable skills to support your career development within National Grid.
