Solutions Development Degree Apprenticeship

Space Digital is part of Airbus Defence and Space, Europe’s leading defence company. We are a world leader in military space solutions that benefit from our 40+ years of experience delivering and maintaining MilSatCom capability for defence users. We offer the broadest portfolio available today for this market, from niche solutions, to the creation of complete end-to-end solutions, including systems, services and support for full operational capability including secure spacecraft control, resilient communications, and Intelligence urveillance and Reconnaissance. To achieve this, we are a Ground Segment service and systems integrator, including operating Airbus satellites designed and built in the UK.

This role is within the Solutions Development function, responsible for the design and transition of new services to meet our customer’s missions. This includes designing and implementing sustainable solutions to meet our strategic environmental aims and developing a range of social value activities within Airbus UK.

We work on leading edge solutions in the exciting space domain. Our services help protect and defend the UK, and are a part of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure. As part of this degree apprenticeship, you will be studying towards achieving a BA or BSc Honours degree in Project Management which will be provided by Portsmouth University.

What you will be doing:

This role is about winning new business, and designing and managing organisational change to deliver our solutions. Working within a team of technical subject matter experts you will develop the skills to ensure that our solutions are aligned to customer and business operational needs. You will learn to create a compelling customer offer. You will engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business to implement organisational changes and achieve value for the customer and Airbus.

Requirements:

In order to be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

• 112-120 UCAS points made up of 3 A levels at BBC or above

OR 

• BTEC Extended Diploma at DMM or above

OR 

• T-levels - Merit

OR

• International Baccalaureate - 29

AND

• Minimum GCSE Grade 4/C English Language and Maths or Equivalent subject to validation.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

• A good appreciation of the UK Ministry of Defence and its capabilities
• The ability to review material with a critical and detailed view, ensuring the best quality for the bid submission
• Be able to achieve UK National Security Vetting level of Security Check
• The ability to produce logical, clear and compelling arguments in written form
• Strong presentational skills at all levels
• Stakeholder management skills
• Determination and an ability to work under pressure to a deadline
• Submit your CV stating your grades and if they are predicted or achieved
• Submit a Cover Letter stating your motivations
