IT Apprenticeship - Epilepsy Society

Overview:

We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. You will ensure the delivery of a high quality, reliable support function to all employees throughout the Society via the helpdesk. As well as document all IT issues highlighted to you and, you will log all communication regarding the support request and resolution in our helpdesk system.

Duties:

• Assist staff to overcome any difficulties they may be experiencing (e.g. printer failure, poor PC performance, telephone disconnections etc.).
• Provide a professional, reliable and communicative service to all departments at the Society, ensuring a timely response, the appropriate prioritisation of calls and a suitable resolution.
• Escalate any issues or problems that need attention to the relevant support agent. If a serious issue occurs, inform the Head of IT.
• Perform regular checks on all Comms room-based equipment to ensure it is in an acceptable working order. Log any issues found within the IT helpdesk and manage their resolution.
• Administer critical background administrative applications, including Active Directory, Sophos Anti-Virus, and others.
• Work closely with external support organisations and contract staff to ensure that issues are prioritised correctly and adequately resolved, that we receive a timely response and that best practices and service levels are adhered to.
• To carry out any other IT related duties as required by the Head of IT.

What we are looking for/Essential Skills:

• A desire for a career in IT
• A keen interest in technology
• Experience with the Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Microsoft office products (specifically Word and Excel)

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• A basic understanding of office 365, networking, desktop & laptop architecture
• Experience in a customer facing role or similar

Able to drive, for the location, not duties:

Please Note - Being able to drive is preferred but not essential as long as you are within an hour commute.

Entry Requirements:

• 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
• Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
• You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance, you could still be considered for the programme.
• If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:

The starting salary for this role will be £14,000 per annum, but it will increase up to £22,500 throughout the first 12 months of the apprenticeship - based on modules completed.

Future Prospects:
