Our Group Head Office, located in Newcastle Upon Tyne are looking to recruit a Finance Apprentice.
How does the apprenticeship programme work?
Our exciting and innovative Apprenticeship Programmes are designed to attract and develop a diverse range of talented individuals who will contribute to the continued growth and success of our business. You will be enrolled onto a Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship and will attend weekly online sessions, delivered by Kaplan. Upon successful completion, you will be enrolled onto a higher-level apprenticeship and will study towards a Level 4 Professional Accounting or Taxation Technician qualification.

The Role
As a Finance Apprentice, you will work as part of a team of experienced accountants. The team is responsible for ensuring financial transactions are recorded efficiently and accurately and all reports and payments are completed on time.
The role of a Finance Apprentice involves assisting in the recording of financial transactions to maintain accurate accounting records, including completing the cash and accounts payable transactions.
Some responsibilities of the role include:
- Accounts payable responsibilities, such as:
- Processing supplier invoices
- Following Group procedures for verifying new supplier details
- Ensuring invoices are appropriately approved for payment
- Preparing regular supplier payment runs and ensuring compliance with the Prompt Payment Code
- Carrying out monthly supplier statement reconciliations
- Setting up and processing ad hoc internet banking payments
- Posting general ledger journal entries
- Posting and reconciling cash book entries
- Completing bank reconciliations
- Preparing weekly cashflow forecasts
- Preparing weekly sales reports
- Supporting and providing cover for other team members during busy periods
- Other ad hoc tasks within the finance team as directed by the management team

- Course Duration: 15 months, plus end point assessment (EPA)

In addition to this, we are looking for apprentices with the following:
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C, or above
- A-Level in Maths or Level 2 AAT or Pass in Intro to Bookkeeping course or BTRN and BKCL or Level 1 or 2 City & Guilds in Bookkeeping and Accounts or ITBK and POBC.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
- In order to be considered for this programme you must be able to prove eligibility to work in the UK
